In a world full of smoke and mirror tricks with the use of social media, not everyone portrays themselves in the most realistic light. Looking at influencers and bloggers lives on Snapchat and Insta, we're drawn in by the illusion of everything seeming picture perfect. Relationship goals, eyebrows on fleek, and the perfectly lit selfies, unfortunately in the real world not everything runs so smoothly. Throwback to the first 5 months of this year, a time that I consider to be one of the toughest stages that I've had to go through within my life so far. I didn't know how I was going to get through it then and looking back I'm not sure how I did. But without fail, every week, your Instagram feeds would be cluttered with my OOTD taken from the perfect angle. Misleading...right? It's times like this when I talk about the curve balls that life has thrown in my way that I remember, we're all human and we're all going through it together. It's important to stay grounded in that respect and remember what's important. Here are some ones that I've found along the way -

1. Keeping People Close.
I used to think growing up that in order to be independent, you had to push people away. Truth is, I love my family and a night without them in my house, I begin to question my existence. I know that I can't go a day without speaking to my Mam, but I also know that I'm capable of standing on my own two feet and figuring life out myself. It's all about balance.

2. Nothing is Permanent.
The harsh reality of life is that you can lose anything within a second, don't take anything for granted. Don't base your happiness on the things in life that are disposable, clothes, money, cars. I appreciate my luxuries, don't get me wrong. My 90 something pairs of shoes proves that point, but I don't ever take them for granted. The upside of all of this is it means when things do start becoming a mess, it isn't permanent and it won't always remain that way. Things always work out for the best, even if it doesn't seem it at the time.

Whilst I have no doubt that there will be more of those hardships to come, because just when you think you've got your sh*t together and cracked the whole thing called life, another niggle is thrown in your face. I'm forever learning, from the people and situations around me, making me better equipped to deal with those things in the future.
